Riverdale Blue Team takes 2nd in State in the 2013 Mock Trial State Competition on Friday and Saturday, March 15 and 16 at the Hatfield Courthouse.  Eighteen teams participated and there were three rounds of competition before making the final round  Riverdale beat Grants Pass and Catlin Gabel which qualified them for the final round against St. Mary's.  Competition was with public schools of all sizes throughout Oregon and against private schools.  All teams argued the case State vs. Durden.

"What they did on Saturday was amazing.  They elevated their game to the point they were like master jazz musicians riffing, adjusting, improving all at the same moment.  It was so impressive that words will never do it justice," said Jeff Brown, Coach and Riverdale History Teacher.

The team is coached by Riverdale History teacher Jeff Brown, as well as volunteer coaches: James Babcock, Robert (Reb) Babcock, Hannah Michelotti, and Gena Douzjian.

"As we entered the Jury room at 1:30pm today I purposefully walked us to that corner of the jury room. Why? It is the exact same place I stood with my teammates seven years ago. We all stood in that corner and heard, 'Riverdale' announced. I don't remember much of the trial, or the day, but I remember that moment in the corner of the Jury room. I am PROUD of all of you. Regardless of how you did today, remember what it felt like in the moment below," -- Hanah Michelotti, Coach and Riverdale Alum.
