Community Meeting Announcements

  • Community Meeting takes place most Wednesdays throughout the school year, as an opportunity to gather as a school and share important news and announcements. Following each Community Meeting, a summary of the announcements will be posted to this page.

    If you would like to make an announcement at a future Community Meeting, please fill out one of the slips posted outside Principal Flannery's office.


    During CDL: Grace Thompson will send out a Google Form each Monday. Please fill out the form with your announcments to be posted here each Wednesday.

    1. Book Club- Emma N.- There will be no book club meeting on October 27. Please come back on November 3!

    2. Peer Tutoring- Truly M.- Hi! If you are an underclassmen who needs help in English or Humanities classes, I can help you! Please contact me directly at 

    3. Art Club- Mr. Orton- Mondays at 4pm. Email Mr. Orton if you'd like the meet link. 

    4. Library Stuff!- Mrs. Hansen- Hey students, did you know you can get books from the RHS library even though we're not at school together? The library has books that can help you research, complete honors assignments, and most importantly read for fun. 

    You can request books by logging in to the library catalog with your RHS Google account:

    Want a book but you're not sure what? Fill out the form at to get a book hand picked just for you by your librarian.

    Once your request has been processed, Mrs. Hansen will email you. You can pick up and drop off books every Monday and Thursday at the RHS front doors from 2:15-4:00.


    5. Student Union- Nathan C. and Eddie H.- Hello all, This week Student Union will be continuing our discussion regarding advisory, and updating the student body regarding progress made since last week. If you would like to make your voice heard regarding advisory or are interested in hearing about the changes in the works, feel free to attend! Meetings are 2:50-3:20 on Thursdays.

    6. Spirit Week- Vittoria C.- Get excited for Riverdale's first virtual spirit week next week! Participate on screen in Monochrome Monday, Tropical/Tourist Tuesday, Class Colors Wednesday, Thleepwear Thursday, and dress up in your Halloween costume for Friday! Need to have at least 2 pieces of clothing for each dress up day to qualify and all participants earn points for their grade and advisory to win prizes! Follow along all week on the @riverdalemavsspirit Instagram account or via publicized email to participate in more daily contests—like “Meme Monday” and "Throwback Thursday,” and more—for a chance to win prizes.


    7. Pep Assembly Participants Wanted- Maverick Club-  During next week’s Spirit Week, there will be virtual pep assemblies during Advisory on Wednesday (for Juniors & Seniors) and on Friday (for Freshmen & Sophomores). Are you interested in showing off your goofy game skills? Want to bring a smile to faces all around? Sign up here for a chance to bring glory to your class! 

    8. Blanchet House- Olivia S.- The Blanchet House is a nonprofit organization located in NW Portland whose mission is “To offer food, shelter and aid to all those in need of a safe place to be nourished and restored.” Currently, they are asking for help in providing care kits. These kits include essential, requested items from people experiencing homelessness in Portland. Their website ( has all the information of what to include in the bags and how to assemble them. 

     Drop off is on Saturday, November 7th from 12:00-2:00 PM at Riverdale High school.
