IMPORTANT

New Communications System Coming Soon

The district is transitioning to a new email/mass communication system, so this may be the last time you receive an email from us that looks like this. We will send two test emails next week - one in the old format and a separate one from the new system. Our system is now synced with Synergy (ParentVUE information) and emails will be coming from riverdalenews@riverdale.k12.or.us. Please mark the new emails as a safe sender and check your spam if you don’t see it. Should you have any issues, please contact communications@riverdale.k12.or.us.

Look for more information as we return to school about other system updates and improvements.

RGS Principal's Message

Hello Falcons and Riverdale Community,

Last night, we celebrated our 8th grader’s promotion to high school. It was a lovely evening full of music, speeches, smiles, and tears. Teachers and staff will miss this lively group full of talented and compassionate students. It’s a tradition at Riverdale for 8th grade students to leave a gift behind as a token of their time here at RGS. This year’s class gift will be replacing and framing the vintage Riverdale sports photography.

The last two weeks have been joyous. This week we continued the new tradition of a staff vs 8th grade basketball game. The whole school came to watch as the teachers dribbled, blocked and passed to win for the 2nd year in a row. This friendly competition was a highlight of the week, creating another opportunity to show our school spirit.

More parties, awards, and special events were had this week as we move into summer. This has been a tremendous year, and I am very proud of the growth our children have made.

I wish you all a wonderful, safe and memorable summer. I can’t wait to see you in a few short months.

My heart is full,

Jen McDonald, RGS Principal

RHS Principal's Message

Mavericks and Riverdale School District,

Thank you all for a wonderful year. In closing my second school year as principal at RHS, I am struck by the feeling of community that has developed for me over the course of this year. As we started the year I was still working on developing my relationship with the school and community. I have to say that due to the work of so many, especially Superintendent Russo, Principal McDonald, and the fantastic staff of RHS, I feel fully integrated into the school community. With that sense of community comes a stronger feeling of pride in what we have accomplished this year. Thank you to everyone that worked so hard to make this year successful and build foundations for the future that will serve all students. There are great things to come at Riverdale School District.

Speaking of great things to come, congratulations to our seniors on their graduation. This group of young adults never ceased to amaze us. Their dedication to academics, sports, and school activities was clear. Their impact and leadership of our school culture was important. I wish them all the best as they move into the next phase of their lives. You have all the skills you need to do great things. Good luck!

To all our students coming back next year, and our rising ninth graders (congrats on your promotion!), I look forward to next year and seeing you all continue your learning and personal journeys. As educators, we do this work because we love to work with kids, see them grow, and help them develop into who they want to be. For us, that process is the reward, and I look forward to continuing our work next year.

Have a great summer, y’all!

Sincerely,

Bart Hawkins, he/him/his

RHS Principal

Jory MHC Summer Schedule

Hello RHS Parents/Caregivers,

As the academic year is wrapping up, JoryMHC wanted to share with parents that we will be at RHS during the summer months. Whether you feel your teen can benefit from mental health support, a check-in with a trusted RHS adult, or a way to build community with their peers, we can definitely facilitate that. We expect to do a hybrid of individual check-ins (if requested/as needed) and then spend the remainder of our time building community and engaging in activities as a group.

Jack Marvin will be at RHS on Mondays: 10am - 2p. If you would like to set up a time to meet with Jack, please email them at: jack@jorymhc.com

Steven Balshem will be at RHS on Wednesdays: 9am - 1pm. If you would like to set up a time to meet with Steven, please email him at: steven@jorymhc.com

Do not hesitate to reach out to Jack or Steven if you are wanting to set something up for your teen during the summer months. If you have any other questions or concerns, please reach out to either of us via email.

With much appreciation,

Jory Mental Health Collective
