Riverdale Grade School News

Dear Grade School Community,

This afternoon you may see cameras being installed on roads/streets that surround the school. These cameras are temporary; they are an essential part of the school’s Conditional Use process and are specifically for an upcoming traffic study. The purpose of the cameras is to monitor traffic to and from school. Please note that no personal information will be recorded.

Again, the purpose is to quantify traffic and its origins.

Sincerely,

Chris Russo

Superintendent, Riverdale School District

2023 Jakob and Sala Kryszek Art and Writing Competition Winners

The annual Jakob and Sala Kryszek Art & Writing Competition for middle and high school students encourages youth to evaluate history, foster an awareness of the Holocaust, and broaden their minds in the areas of art, history, civics, sociology, and literature. For the competition, students are presented with a prompt that becomes their cue to create a piece of writing or a work of art. The prompts for the contest provide an opportunity for students to consider the circumstances in which a situation like the Holocaust can occur.

The judges were thoroughly impressed with the level of depth, maturity, and creativity the entries possessed this year.

Congratulations to the following students on their awards:

Writing Winners

First Prize - The Looking Glass Turned Back by Kate V.

Second Prize - Orbiting Eden by Harry S.

Honorable Mentions - Forever and Always by Everly M.

Art Winners

Third Prize - A World of Their Own by Pearl M.

Important Field Day Info

Hi Families!

As you know, Field Day will be this Friday, May 26, and I want to share a few reminders for how to beat the heat!

Your student will have about an hour and a half time slot for field day outside. There will be hydration stations spread out around the field for kids to get water, but make sure to have your student pack a water bottle, sunscreen and maybe an extra change of clothes as there will be some water games.

Looking forward to a day of fun!

- Mr. Anderson

Volunteers (who have an approved background check): please sign into the front office when you arrive on campus. Parking is limited, so please carpool if possible, walk to campus and park past the field on Breyman Ave. Please refrain from parking in the no parking zones.

Volunteer sign ups are now closed.

RGS Middle School Music Performance

Join us in the RGS gym for a 5th-8th grade music performance tomorrow night, March 25 from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m.

RGS Closed Campus Reminder

If you come on the RGS campus before 3:10 p.m., you will be asked to sign into the front office. The grade school is a closed campus from 8:30 a.m. - 3:10 p.m. Thank you for your help with this.

REMINDER

Outside Food Deliveries Not Allowed

Middle school students have discovered food delivery services. These deliveries cause traffic congestion as well as an increase in work for our front office staff. Please let your students know that it is no longer allowed to have food or drinks delivered to the school. If it is delivered, they will have to wait until the end of the day to pick it up. Thank you for partnering with us on this matter.

REMINDER

Lost and Found

Please collect any lost and found items before the end of the school year. Search through your things for any Riverdale jerseys, singlets, library books and any school-owned items before the end of the school year. Families will be charged for any lost items.
