Community Meeting Announcements

  • Community Meeting takes place most Wednesdays throughout the school year, as an opportunity to gather as a school and share important news and announcements. Following each Community Meeting, a summary of the announcements will be posted to this page.

    If you would like to make an announcement at a future Community Meeting, please fill out one of the slips posted outside Principal Robinson's office.

    1. Maverick Club- Annabella C. and Noah C.- Homecoming dance is October 5th at 7PM to 10PM in the Maverick room. The theme is Pirates vs. Cowboys! Come to the dance dressed as either a pirate or a cowboy. Tickets before the dance are $10; tickets at the door are $15. 

    Deal tomorrow, 9/19: If you purchase your ticket with a new student (not your sibling) you will get 2 for $15! 

    Pick up your permission slip at the front desk.

    2. NHS- River S., Cameron B., Jordan M. and Annabella C.- Mandatory meeting today at lunch in Mr. Wechter’s room. We will be taking attendance.

    3. Outdoor School- River S. - Outdoor school sign ups are open! Workshop is this Friday. Bus picks up from school @ 4:15. The bus will not bring you back to Riverdale; please make other pick up arrangements. Makeup workshops are available as well; go to River with any questions

    4. Science Bowl- Mr. Preacher- Science bowl is like a quiz show involving science facts and very fun! Practices are twice a week, Tuesday/Thursday at lunch in Mr. Preacher’s room (127). We can change the days if necessary. There will be a competition in late February. If you’re interested, stop by Mr Preacher’s room this Thursday (9/19) to sign up. If you can’t make it then, find another time to stop by his room and get signed up.

    5. GSA-  Niki M. and Sophia D.- Meetings are Thursdays at lunch in Mr. Thompson’s room. Another low-key get to know you meeting this week during which we will talk about current events. There will be snacks!

    6. Climate Change Club- Tess. H and Cannon D.- Meetings will begin next week; Tuesdays at lunch in Ms. Olguin’s room. We will start making a list compiling events/creating a schedule. 

    7. Young Politicians Club-  Eddie H., Truly M. and Warner G. - Meetings are Thursdays at lunch. This week’s topic: Saudi Arabia oil attack. There will be donuts!

    8. Jewish Club- Zach R. and Henry S.- Meetings will be Mondays at lunch in Mr. Preacher’s room. There will be activities, games and food!

    9. Volleyball- Annabella C. and Nicola W.- Thanks for coming out to support us Monday! We have an away game tonight against Westside Christian. Our next home game is Monday, 9/23 at 6PM against De La Salle North Catholic. 

    10. Boys Varsity Soccer- Noah C. and Damien P.- First big home game vs. OES, this Friday at 7pm at Lewis and Clark.

    11. Buddy Fest and Buddy Walk-  McKenna L. and Cameron B.- Buddy Fest and Buddy Walk are this weekend. Buddy Fest NW is Saturday, 10AM at the Moda center. Buddy Walk is Sunday, 9AM-1PM at Millennium Park Plaza in Lake Oswego.

    12. Cribbage Tournament- River S., Cameron B. and Katie A.- All Thursday matches are moved to Friday due to a conflict with XC. 

    13. New Non-Profit Business-  Sophia D. and Emily A. - A new non-profit, High School Helpers. We will help get your info passed along to parents for babysitting/tutoring opportunities. There will be flyers around school with info and a QR code to a website. Fill out the form on the website with your info or come talk to Emily A. or Sophia D. 

    14. Student Advocacy Union-  Eddie H., Nicola W., Ellie S. and Nathan C.- Come tell us about issues you want addressed and follow us @rhs_sau. Meetings are in Mr. Thompson’s room, Fridays at lunch.

    15. Site Council/Principal’s Advisory- Ms. Robinson- Reminder that Site Council and Principal’s Advisory applications are due September 30th. Please fill out the forms completely and check the meeting dates. Even if you were a member last year, you need to fill out a new application for this year. Forms are available at the front desk.

    16. Climate Strike- Ms. Robinson- If you are planning to participate in the climate strike on Friday, please be aware that your parents will need to notify the school to excuse your absence. You will also need to check in with your teachers and coaches to let them know and receive info on your assignments for the day.
