Enrollment Options
Non-Resident Enrollment
Enrollment Options for Non-ResidentsRiverdale School District is accepting non-resident lottery applications for the 2024-25' school year in the following grades:
- At our grade school for Kindergarten, 6th and 7th grade
- At our high school for 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th grade for the 2024-25 school year.
Non-resident students may be able to attend Riverdale on a tuition basis or through an inter-district transfer, on a space available basis, as illustrated below.
Inter-district transfers
Your home district releases you to attend another school district, and your state funds follow you. This option allows you to attend Riverdale at no charge. Some districts don't release any students.
Work directly with your home district and follow the steps in their request process as soon as possible. Most districts do not advertise their transfer lottery timelines. A transfer from your home district does not guarantee entrance to Riverdale. You must still earn a place in our enrollment lottery.
NOTE: All inter-district transfer approvals must be received in writing by the Riverdale District Office by June 1, 2024, in order to be considered for the 2024-25 school year.
Tuition
Tuition is an option for families who are unable to get an inter-district transfer. View Riverdale's tuition schedule.
Either option requires you to complete the Enrollment Process and participate in our enrollment lottery. As a public school, this is the process required by state legislation.
Please contact our enrollment coordinator, Hilary Chandler, at 503-262-4847 or by email if you have additional questions about the process.

New Resident Introduction
Enrollment for Resident Students
Resident students are students whose guardians live within the Riverdale School District boundaries in Portland, Oregon. Please make sure to check that your address is within the district boundaries. Resident students can attend kindergarten through 12th grade in our district at no charge.
Process
Parents or guardians of new students should submit a New Resident Introduction Form as soon as possible.
SUBMIT NEW RESIDENT INTRODUCTION FORM
*NOTE: Completing this form does NOT register your student for school; It simply introduces your family to the school district.
Next, our enrollment coordinator will confirm your address is within our district boundary. Additionally, to verify residency, you will need to provide one of the following documents (showing your name and address): closing papers, rental agreement or utility bill.
You can also contact our enrollment coordinator, Hilary Chandler, directly at 503-262-4847 or hchandler@riverdale.k12.or.us.
