Applying to Riverdale's Preschool
Riverdale's preschool program is not a state-funded program. There is a fee to attend, and an application process. A limited number of spots are available each year for 3- and 4-year olds on a fee basis, open to both residents of our school district and those who live outside our boundaries. Applications must be completed by the deadline posted in the enrollment calendar each year, typically in mid-February.
Inspired by the Reggio Emilia philosophy, the early childhood classroom encourages educators to honor the natural curiosity of children and to design curriculum around meaningful long-term projects.
Children come to us full of ideas about the world around them and with their own experiences in the world. Their natural curiosities and interests drive the inquiry that enhances the curriculum development process. We treat their knowledge with respect, and listen, discuss and learn together. We provide a rich environment for our youngest learners to grow and explore. Through a wide variety of materials our students develop fine and gross motor skills. Interactive learning spaces match the goal of directed learning, yet remain flexible enough to reflect developmental change. Learning in our classroom is full of joy, play and wonder.
Multiple program offerings meet the learning needs of children, while being supportive of family needs.
(Note: All children must be 3 years old by Sept. 1, and need to be potty trained and self sufficient in underwear.)
