Happy Spring Break!

Dear Students and Families,
The whole RHS staff wishes you a healthy and enjoyable Spring Break 2021! I think students, staff and families are all ready for some downtime, but we are going to miss you next week. I hope we all find a way over break to be kind to someone else and to be kind to ourselves. Personally, I am going to put my kayak on the roof rails and find a place to put in. Thank you for your work and support over the last two trimesters. Best wishes next week!
Mr. Flannery

Hybrid Return Survey

We are very excited to be offering a Hybrid learning option for students and families starting April 16. I am sending out this survey to you in order to determine which students will participate and how many students we will have at each grade level. Please fill out one survey for each of your high school students. We will be sorting through the survey results the Monday we return from spring break. Please send any questions to:
In order to fully plan for our April 16 hybrid start, we need to know which students will 1) Stay in our Comprehensive Distance Learning (CDL) Schedule (the program we have been in all year) or 2) Participate in our new Hybrid Learning schedule with in-person learning in the afternoon two days a week.
Please review the images of the hybrid schedule and the hybrid student schedule example. All students will continue to be in distance learning classes together for ODD/EVEN (periods) mornings and on our ALL (periods) days. Students who stay in Comprehensive Distance Learning will continue to have remote Applied Learning Lab time in the afternoons 2 times a week.
What does hybrid look like?
Students taking part in Hybrid will be in either a 9th/10th grade cohort (meeting on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons) or a 11th/12th grade cohort (meeting on Thursday and Friday afternoons). Some adjustments will occur on short weeks. Each grade level will further be divided into learning PODS (typically made up of 9 students). The Maverick Room, Library and Gym, will be used to accommodate some larger group activities.
While there is the ability to change your mind regarding participation in hybrid or CDL, we do need your current decision so that we can plan effectively.
Please click on the blue button to complete the survey. Thank you for your support in this survey.

Support During Break

If you are feeling down or stressed over spring break, there are resources available for Riverdale students. Riverdale has contracted with Jory Mental Health Collective, a local mental health agency, to provide support and consultation to Riverdale students and families. If you find yourself or your student needing time to check-in for additional support during this break from school, email Simone Nagle, one of the Jory MHC therapists at to schedule a time to connect.
If your student is expressing intense thoughts and feelings over break, and you have concerns about their safety or overall well being, consider utilizing one of the following resources:
-  Lines for Life Youth Line - call 1-877-968-8491 or text teen2teen to 839863

Riverdale Chromebook Device Return

If you have a Riverdale Chromebook collecting dust at home, please drop it off at the high school office M-F 8 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. If your student is coming into the building for hybrid, and they still need their Chromebook at home, this message does not apply. We are only asking for families to return devices that are not being used at home.

Limited In-Person Instruction (LIPI) Update

The week we return after break, we will continue with support time for students who are working on any incompletes from Trimester 2. We will also have groups for 9-12 art activities, small group social activities, and college and academic check-ins.
LIPI is not an everyday activity for students, and it does not take the place of the instruction provided by comprehensive distance learning (CDL). As we schedule, we will do our best to limit the impact on students’ CDL schedule.
Reminder: To Get Ready For Participation, please review these documents with your student.
  • COVID-19 Student Screening Form. Students who take part in LIPI will fill out and sign this form each day as they enter the building.
  • These info sheets on how to correctly wear a face mask and cough etiquette.

LIPI Waiver Form

This waiver needs to be filled out before students can attend LIPI for the first time and will be kept on file for future attendance. You are welcome to fill out the form in advance of your student coming into the building. Forms can be turned in by students upon arrival at the school or sent in via email to
