Congratulations to Reese G. on two Honorable Mention awards in this year's Scholastic Arts and Writing Awards. "Your dedication to the craft and your willingness to submit your work has paid off. Not only were you recognized for your artwork, but your writing as well. Your poetry collection demonstrates great skill and potential. What an honor to be recognized for your poetry. I am very proud of your accomplishment and I hope you are as well!" Carrington Light, 7th/8th grade English Teacher

"Panelists look for works that best exemplify originality, technical skill, and the emergence of a personal voice or vision. I'm thrilled that the Scholastic Arts and Writing Awards recognized your skill and potential as a growing artist. Keep up the great work." Carrington Light

"My art piece represents how quick people are to judge, stereotype, and categorize others. The book being read is a dictionary in which are listed the names of everyday people. Next to each person is there "definition," or how society views and thus defines them. I created the piece so people would realize that perhaps they are doing this, and recognize that a human's existence should not be limited down to so few words; we each have complex reasoning for everything we do."
