Riverdale Grade School News

Published Sept. 30

Dear Riverdale Grade School Community,
It's incredible that October is already upon us. As we enter into the fall and are becoming more familiar with one another, I'd like to emphasize how grateful I am to be a part of this community. I hope you were able to watch our incredible teacher videos on the back-to-school site. I look forward to sharing more ideas and plans of how we can stay connected during these unusual times.
We're in this together.
Interim Principal Kendall

FuelEd for K-4

We are gradually introducing curriculum to your students as we continuously strengthen our Comprehensive Distance Learning. We are excited to announce that in the coming days, we will be introducing you to FuelEd, an online curriculum that is being used by many districts around Oregon and around the country.
Parents of K-4 students will soon receive an email that looks like the one below. Please sign up as your child’s learning coach and explore the variety of videos and introduction directions as we begin to implement them in our classrooms. After you receive this information, your teachers will reach out to you with next steps.
We are so fortunate to be able to offer our students a variety of modes of learning this year. We look forward to partnering with you!

Back-to-School Site

Make sure to check out the RGS Back-to-School Site before this Friday to view important videos from your student's teachers.

REMINDER

Attendance Calls

If students are sick or cannot participate in Comprehensive Distance Learning for any reason, you can email rgsattendance@riverdale.k12.or.us to let us know. Attendance calls notifying parents of student absences will go out around 10 a.m.

FOR YOUR INFORMATION

Immunization Data

Twice a year, schools must report the immunization and exemption rates for their students. We have posted our preliminary rates on the immunization page on the district website, and these will be updated after Immunization Exclusion Day in February. If you have not yet submitted your student's immunization records, please submit them to the school office as soon as possible.

REMINDER

Virtual Read-to-the-Dogs Program

Kathy Loter from Dove Lewis has been partnering with RGS for years, providing volunteers and their dogs to come into our classrooms to allow students a no-pressure environment to practice their reading skills. Students have loved reading aloud to the dogs, and now they can sign-up to do it online with a live dog.
