CDL Weather Closure Plan

While the district remains in Comprehensive Distance Learning (CDL), the concept of a school closure day due to inclement weather is different. As such, staff safety remains vital. In the event of inclement weather, CDL will continue. The Essential Staff requirements remain the same as typical plans. In the event of sporadic power outages, teachers may need to transition to asynchronous activities. We will cancel school in the event of widespread power outages.

Latest Announcement from Gov. Brown

Gov. Kate Brown announced statewide restrictions on businesses and gatherings, with schools continuing to be governed by the Oregon Department of Education “Ready Schools, Safe Learners” guidelines.

From Nov. 18 to Dec. 2, restaurants will be take-out only, gyms will be closed, retail businesses will be held to 75% capacity, faith group sizes will be limited, and social gatherings will be limited to two households and a maximum of six people. Brown has asked people to wear masks at all times when out and to work from home wherever possible. Brown has also instituted a travel advisory and recommended a 14-day quarantine upon returning to Oregon. The Oregon Health Authority reported a daily record 1,122 cases Thursday and said social gatherings are a major transmission source.

Riverdale COVID-19 Tracking Forms and Process

Even while in Comprehensive Distance Learning, it is now the expectation that to the greatest extent possible, all potential exposures of COVID-19 in district employees, students and contractors be reported to the district to ensure that precautionary steps can be taken to prevent the spread of this virus. There are two confidential forms and an internal process that should be filled out for any employees, contractors or visitors to the district who report that they have tested positive for COVID-19, report that they have a household member who has tested positive for COVID-19, or who report that they have been notified that they are a close contact of a known case of COVID-19.
Please contact our schools per the above guidance if your student(s) have tested positive for COVID-19, have a household member who has tested positive for COVID-19, or have been notified that they are a close contact of a known case of COVID-19. We thank you in advance for helping us in this process and wish you all good health and safety.

School Board Vacancy

When a position on the School Board occurs outside of the normal election cycle, it is the responsibility of the School Board to appoint a member of the community to fill the unexpired term. The temporary term for position five will expire on June 30, 2021. If the person who is appointed wishes to continue in the position, they will be required to run for the seat in the May 2021 election.

We encourage all interested community members who have lived in the district for more than one year to please submit a letter of interest expressing why they would like to be on the Board to Board Secretary Megan Ticer at mticer@riverdale.k12.or.us no later than Monday, Nov. 23. We are committed to making this important decision transparently.
