Thank You

This has been a very challenging week for students, staff and families. I want to thank everyone for the support that you have provided each other - sharing power, getting food to those in need and being patient with the changes to this week. Attendance Correction: Ms. Thompson is correcting an error I made in setting up attendance today - if you were marked absent for a period today, it will be corrected. This was my mistake as my first day through an asynchronous day. My apologies for that inconvenience.

Limited In-Person Instruction (LIPI)

Week 2 of Limited In-Person Instruction (LIPI) for individual and small groups of students was postponed due to weather and power outages this week. We will be resuming LIPI activities next week and are excited to expand the number of students we serve. Participation in LIPI is not mandatory, but is strongly encouraged for those who feel comfortable in attending.
LIPI is not an everyday activity for students and it does not take the place of the instruction provided by comprehensive distance learning (CDL). As we schedule, we will limit the impact on students’ CDL schedule.
To Get Ready For Participation in the coming weeks, please review these documents with your student.
Thank you for your patience as we put LIPI into motion.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Mr. Flannery

Resources For Immediate Student and Family Support

  • SafeOregon. If you have a concern when you are outside school or online, use one of the following options: Call one of two 24/7 anonymous concern reporting lines: 888-287-6157 or 844-472-3367 (the second number can also take texts). Email to tip@safeoregon.com.
  • The Dougy Center, The National Center for Grieving Children & Families, has supported children and families after the death of a family member, friend, or other relationship loss since 1982.  They are a non-profit organization, and thanks to the financial support of the Portland community, their support groups are offered free of charge. The Dougy Center also offers support  for those who have a family member who is living with an advanced serious illness. This tip sheet is very useful for learning more about The Dougy Center’s resources.
  • American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP). AFSP provides a powerful resource guide: Teens and suicide: What parents should know.

24/7 Support Lines

Reporting when students are sick

When your child is sick and they cannot attend school in person or during CDL, the Health Dept. is requesting to know a little more information about the symptoms they are having. When you call the office, or email us at rhsattendance@riverdale.k12.or.us, please remember to include what your child's symptoms are e.g., fever, cough, headache, stomach ache, runny nose, nausea or vomiting. If necessary, you also might receive a call from the office asking a few more questions. Thank you for your help with this.

COVID-19 Tracking

Please contact our schools if your student(s) have tested positive for COVID-19, have a household member who has tested positive for COVID-19, or have been notified that they are a close contact of a known case of COVID-19.
Even while in Comprehensive Distance Learning, it is now the expectation that to the greatest extent possible, all potential exposures of COVID-19 in district employees, students and contractors be reported to the district to ensure that precautionary steps can be taken to prevent the spread of this virus. There are two confidential forms and an internal process that should be filled out for any employees, contractors or visitors to the district who report that they have tested positive for COVID-19, report that they have a household member who has tested positive for COVID-19, or who report that they have been notified that they are a close contact of a known case of COVID-19. We thank you in advance for helping us in this process and wish you all good health and safety.
