MAVERICK GIRLS BASKETBALL SECURES LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP, UNDEFEATED SEASON

Despite a year of challenges related to the Covid pandemic and a season that began in May, the Maverick girls basketball team, along with coaches Mark Scarlett and Rob Pridemore, rose to the occasion and dominated their competition. The team completed an undefeated season in league play on Saturday, June 26th, when they hosted the Lewis & Clark League Championship game against the Aardvarks of Oregon Episcopal School.
The game was a battle from the beginning with lots of physicality and high tension. Senior Venous Sanaee finished with 10 points and 15 rebounds, while junior Jolynn Tripi added 13 points and had five steals. Sophomore Abby Zurasky and Freshman Cosette Milla each had 8 rebounds, while senior Ellie Steele added 5 rebounds. Every point counted as the game came to an end and the Mavericks pulled away a win of 33-32, to secure the league tournament championship.
