Reporting Sickness/COVID Cases

It is imperative that households report any sickness or cases of COVID to their school. When your child is sick and they cannot attend school in person, please let us know the symptoms they are having. When you call the office, or email us at rgsattendance@riverdale.k12.or.us or rhsattendance@riverdale.k12.or.us, please remember to include your child's temperature if they have/had a fever, when the onset of symptoms was and any symptoms i.e. fever, cough, headache, stomach ache, runny nose, nausea or vomiting.
We appreciate as much lead time as possible to be able to contact trace. If necessary, you also might receive a call from the office asking a few more questions. When you have a sick student, remember to keep siblings home until COVID has been ruled out. Thank you for your help as we navigate this together.

Holidays and Celebrations

We hope that our Sikh community had a meaningful Gur-Gaddi Guru Granth Sahib.
Labor Day honors those who fought for a livable wage, safe working conditions, and a shorter work day. We appreciate those efforts.
To our Jewish community, Happy Rosh Hashanah. We hope you have a lovely start to the new year.

Welcome Back!

I am happy to be back at Riverdale supporting equity and inclusion efforts districtwide. Equity at school means that all students are getting what they need to thrive - academically, socially, and emotionally. Inclusion at school means that all students feel safe and supported when showing up as their full selves.

Air Ventilation Information

  • At RHS and RGS Portable HEPA air purifier units are located in every classroom, and throughout the building in strategic locations. The air purifiers (from USA Sealing) are Medical Grade HEPA technology to remove airborne viruses and bacteria. It only takes the units approx. 20 minutes to exchange the air in a typical classroom. Additionally, ionisers have been installed in our buildings. They are shown to kill covid, the company uses patented technology called needle-point bi-polarionization to create equal amounts of positive and negative ions. When these ions are injected into the air stream they break down passing pollutants and gases into harmless compounds like oxygen, carbon dioxide, nitrogen and water vapor.
  • Our HVAC has been tested (last test date was August 2021) and found to meet recommended guidelines. Ventilation systems will be checked and maintained monthly by maintenance staff. Air filters at RGS and RHS were recently changed. They are on a replacement cycle of 3 times a year.
  • RHS and RGS ventilation systems use MERV 13 filters that are hospital grade. They have pleated filter fabric that utilizes an electrostatic charge to remove very fine particles from the air as well as mold, pet dander, bacteria and particles that carry viruses.
