PSAT & PSAT 8/9

Riverdale will be offering the PSAT to our sophomores and juniors on Wednesday, October 13, 2021. In addition, we will also be offering the PSAT 8/9 to all of our freshmen that same day.
For juniors, the PSAT is also a National Merit Scholar Qualifying Test (NMSQT), which determines eligibility to compete for a National Merit Scholarship. All of these tests have already been ordered, and families do not need to take any extra steps to register their students. Questions? Email Robert Lovvron rlovvron@riverdale.k12.or.us.
After testing is completed the schedule is:
  • Period 1 1:25 to 1:50
  • Period 2 1:55 to 2:20
  • Period 3 2:25 to 2:50
  • Period 4 2:55 to 3:20
  • Period 5 3:25 to 3:50

Senior College Night: Oct. 7, 6–7 p.m.

While most of our students are well into the application process at this point and regularly meeting with our college counselor, there are a lot of specific issues that are worth repeating for both parents and students. We’ll cover admissions timelines, “insider information” on the 2020–2021 application review process, how materials are sent to and received by institutions, the virtues of spacing out one’s applications, and much more.

Senior College Financial Aid Night—FAFSA and Merit Scholarships: Oct. 12, 6–7 p.m.

With FAFSA opening on October 1st, many families will already be in the process of working through applications for federal student aid, but there are always a lot of questions about what colleges do with that information when received and how different types of scholarships and awards are determined. We will cover the basics of the “Expected Family Contribution,” how that number affects award amounts, student loans, parent loans, and merit scholarships. Junior families are welcome to attend this event as well.
