Riverdale School District News

summer
Dear Riverdale Community,
As we enter the homestretch of the school year, we plan to keep you in the loop with recent developments for summer school. Thank you to our principals and staff members for building out great opportunities for our students beyond the school year. Our principals will be giving a brief update on Monday at the Board Work Study and more information will be provided next week.
Have a great weekend!
Sincerely,
Joanna Tobin, Interim Superintendent

Holidays and Celebrations

To our Bahá’í community, have a wonderful Declaration of the Báb and Ascension of Bahá’u’lláh.
To our Christian community, have a lovely Pentecost Sunday/Whitsunday.
To our Buddhist community, have a festive Vesak/Buddha Day.

Guest Speaker: Holocaust Survivor, Evelyn Banko

Next Friday, May 28, from 11 a.m. - 12 p.m., we will be having a guest speaker virtually joining us from the Oregon Jewish Museum and Center for Holocaust Education. Evelyn Banko was a young child when her home city, Vienna, was seized by Nazi Germany. She and her family had to flee after they were warned about their impending deportation to a concentration camp. They lived in a number of places throughout the next few years as they struggled to find a safe community. She will be speaking with us about her life experiences and recollections from that time. Learn more about her background here.
You can join us at the following webinar link.
A big thank you to one of our high school counselors, Lisa Stiller, for organizing this event!
