Model United Nations

Oregon MUN provides an opportunity for high school students to participate in a simulation of the UN. Student delegates research and debate contemporary world issues related to security, economics, human rights, health, and the environment in preparation for the annual spring conference at the University of Oregon. MUN activities foster global citizenship while building leadership, teamwork, and public speaking skills.
RHS students can participate by taking the trimester 2 MUN elective, which walks students through all required steps to participate in the spring conference or as an extracurricular activity with regular meetings to guide students through the preparation process.

National Honors Society Announcement: Principal Appoints a New Advisor

Laura Keldorf is Riverdale High School's new National Honors Society faculty advisor. Our first priority is membership, and the Classes of 2022 and 2023 will have the opportunity to apply beginning Monday, November 29.
Juniors will receive application information in American Literature, and Seniors will receive application information in Economics during the first week of winter trimester.
Membership in National Honors Society, as dictated by the national governing body, is based upon four pillars, which include:

Per national guidelines, at a minimum, students must have a cumulative GPA of 3.50.

This involves voluntary contributions made by a student to the school or community, done without compensation.

Student leaders are those who are resourceful, good problem solvers, and idea contributors. Leadership experiences can be drawn from school or community activities while working with or for others.

The student of good character is cooperative; demonstrates high standards of honesty and reliability; shows courtesy, concern, and respect for others; and generally maintains a clean disciplinary record.
Students who accept membership and are inducted into the chapter should be aware of the time and commitment involved with this honor. The officers, who were appointed under Mark Wechter's leadership last spring, will lead the chapter meetings, track the attendance of members and coordinate chapter and individual service projects to benefit the school and community.
Officers and active members may also want to consider enrolling in the Organizational Leadership and Service class, which will be offered during both the winter and spring trimesters this year.
The Class of 2024 will have the opportunity to apply in the spring of 2022.
