RSD Pep Rally

This Thursday we had our Homecoming Pep Rally across both schools, the GS and HS. The first
step in a series of events/activities planned for throughout the year. The HS students and
teachers came to the GS, collectively set up the event, with two HS students MC’ing the activities. Our students connected over various competitive activities, sharing Riverdale spirit and cross school unity.

Applications Now Open

Non-Resident Enrollment Lottery

Riverdale School District is accepting non-resident lottery applications at our grade school for Kindergarten only and at our high school for 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th grade for the 2023-24 school year.
Non-resident students may be able to attend Riverdale on a tuition basis or through an inter-district transfer, on a space available basis, as illustrated on our Enrollment page.

Updating Strategic Plan

School leadership collaboratively coalesced around 5 general areas of focus for the district - these would be the district priority foci. Now, we would like the community to help us define what goes in each of these buckets of work (priorities). Please read through each priority area (described on each ThoughtExchange button link) and list potential initiatives you would like to see at Riverdale.
There are five separate exchanges that we’re asking our entire community to complete during the month of September. These exchanges will close on Friday, Sept 30.

Merit Scholar Semifinalists

Two Riverdale High School Seniors have been selected as semifinalists for the National Merit Scholarship: Aeneas W. and Zinnia P.
  • The National Merit Scholarship Program is an academic competition for recognition and scholarships that began in 1955.
  • High school students who meet program entry and participation requirements may enter the program by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) at the specified time in the high school program, usually as juniors.
  • In early September, students are notified if they have qualified as semifinalists.
  • Semifinalists are designated on a state-representational basis and are the highest scoring entrants in each state.
  • To be considered for a National Merit Scholarship, semifinalists must advance to finalist standing in the competition by meeting high academic standards as well as all other requirements.
  • In February, semifinalists are notified that they have advanced to finalist standing.
  • High School principals are also notified and provided with a Certificate of Merit to present to each finalist.
  • Winners are chosen from the finalist group based on their abilities, skills and accomplishments.
